About me...

Hi, I’m Zack!

I'm a photographer based on the edge of the New Forest National Park in Hampshire (but I travel all over the south coast and beyond).

When I'm not out with a camera you can usually find me enjoying walks or bike rides around the forest with my beautiful wife Claire and our cheeky cocker spaniel Bailey. We love the coast as well, with Hengistbury Head being a personal favourite!

I hope you enjoy having a look around my website. If you have any questions about photography or want to talk about the different ways I can help you capture great content just get in touch. Don't forget to check out my social media channels for some of my latest projects!

What gear do I use?

I get asked this A LOT! Despite what other photographers may say, we all love gear (and I'm a sucker for it!) but what type of camera you have is just a part of the story. It's no good having the latest and greatest equipment if you don't know how to turn it on!

What I take to a particular project varies, but below is a list of some of the items I use regularly:

  • Canon EOS R7

I've recently moved away from DSLR's to a mirrorless system, AND from Nikon to Canon! It's a huge step with so many differences, but the modern features of the R7 and the incredible eye-detection makes shooting a breeze!

  • RF 100-400mm

This was the first lens I bought after switching to the R7. Ideal for wildlife, with the R7 giving a 1.6x crop it turns this lens into a 160 - 640mm lens! Being a native RF mount, this lens can also take full advantage of the R7's features. It even has built-in stabilisation!

  • Nikon D5600

My original DSLR, I've had this camera for a long time!

  • Nikkor 50mm

With fast focusing and sharp pictures, this is my go to lens for portraits and low light situations.

  • Nikkor 18 - 55mm

Quick to focus with a good range, this lens is a great starting point.

  • Nikkor 35mm

Great for wider shots, particularly in low light.

  • Nikkor 10 - 20mm

My ultra-wide lens. Used sparingly, it gives great results when you want to capture the whole scene in a single shot.

  • DJI Mini 2

My favourite piece of kit. Being so light and so little, it can fly (almost!) anywhere. I'm registered with the CAA, fully insured and have hours flight time in all sorts of environments and locations. I'm also able to broadcast a live view from the drone (which is ideal for public events!).

  • Lowepro Protactic 400 AW

This bag is amazing! Spacious, hard wearing and comfy no matter how much stuff you put in it. It even has a rain cover built into it for when the weather turns decidedly British!

  • DJI Osmo Gimbal

Want super-smooth video? Or maybe a motion-lapse / time-lapse? This is the kit to use! Oh, and it folds up so small and barely takes up any room in my bag (which is perfect).

  • Rode Videomic Pro

A professional on-camera microphone designed to deliver the best directional audio recording. It makes a massive difference to the audio quality of any video clips.

  • Samtian CS-B1 Tripod

My super-sturdy tripod! Like all tripods it's a little on the cumbersome side, but this one is pretty solid and really adjustable to make sure everything is set up just right. It also has the advantage of being able to turn into a monopod for a little more convenience!

Family photoshoot

'I’ve wanted some ‘proper’ pictures of my family for a while. I have loads of phone snaps but they’re just not the same. Zack did a great job, the kids had a great time and I honestly love the pictures!'
