26th February 2021 - a date marked for all the wrong reasons

In January 2021 local media reported the need for urgent repairs at Hurst Castle, with coastal erosion cited as the main cause. Just a few weeks later everyones worst fears began a reality, when a large section of the east wing collapsing into the sea.

It was later revealed that a group of surveyors were actually INSIDE the building when the wall collapsed! I can't imagine the sound or sensation they would have felt as the wall collapsed right in front of them...

Some of my footage was featured by national and international news agencies...

Work has started to strengthen the building and shore up the beach beneath. Every piece of masonry has been meticulously examined and numbered.

Big questions remain over the future of the site. With a detailed study due to be carried out soon, many people wonder if the castle will ever be fully repaired...

The repair work continues...
